Women's Committee Carnegie Museum of Art

Who We Are

Founded in 1957, the Women’s Committee operates exclusively to promote the cultural and educational value of Carnegie Museum of Art to the community by increasing the museum’s visibility, providing financial support and expanding its community outreach.  Since its inception, the Women’s Committee has funded the purchase of art for the collections, contributed to the museum’s infrastructure and gallery renovations, and participated as a major donor to museum endowment and capital campaigns.

The Women’s Committee’s primary annual fundraiser is On Dec, featuring an evening Patron Party followed the next day by a presentation and luncheon. The name On Dec is a reference to decorative arts which, along with elements of design, happens to be the focus of the presentation each year. This year’s event will take place with the Patron Party in a private home on April 23rd and a presentation and luncheon the next day in the museum's Carnegie Music Hall and Music Hall Foyer respectively.

On Dec 2025 will feature well-known interior designer Bunny Williams as the speaker. She will give a presentation entitled, "Life in the Garden." In addition to being the author of eight design books, Bunny is one of Architectural Digest’s “AD100 Hall of Fame” members and has won numerous awards, including the New York School of Interior Design’s “Albert Hadley Lifetime Achievement Award;” the “Living Landmarks Award” from the New York Landmarks Conservancy; a Kips Bay’s Lifetime Achievement Award; and the Institute of Classical Architecture & Art’s “Arthur Ross Award.”
